Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr has apologised to supporters for his reaction when substituted in the recent intense El Clasico triumph.

The Brazilian was substituted in the second half and expressed his disappointment by going straight to the dressing room.

Vinicius subsequently came back to the bench and, after his side's 2-1 win, tried to confront Barcelona's opposing player during unsavoury after the game scenes.

"Now I want to say sorry to all the Madridistas for my reaction when I was taken off in the big match," he posted on his account.

"Just as I have previously expressed during the latest practice, I wish to apologise again to my team-mates, the team, and the president.

"Sometimes fervor overcomes me because I always want to triumph and assist my side. My competitive character originates in the love I hold for this institution and all it represents."

The player moved to the Spanish capital from Brazil in recent years for millions and has notched triple figures in numerous matches.

But his career in the La Liga is far from certain with reports in lately stating that the club would contemplate letting the player leave if they were to receive a suitable offer.

When the winger was taken off on Sunday, broadcast footage from network Dazn recorded him remarking: "It's always me! I'm leaving the team! It's preferable if I go, I'm moving on."

In his latest post on X, the athlete stated: "I vow to keep striving every second for the welfare of Los Blancos, as I have performed since the initial arrival."
